LETTER FROM UUFP BOARD PRESIDENT BARBARA HARTEIS
We are living in unprecedented times. The coronavirus has driven us indoors, away from
friends and, in some cases, even apart from family members. Weeks and even months
may pass before we fully understand the threat that this new and sometimes deadly
virus poses to ourselves and people around the world. But we will persevere. We will
learn from the experience and we will grow spiritually.
UUFP offers a prime example. Early on, the coronavirus prompted Rev. Kim Wilson
and the board to agree we should not gather at our fellowship building, Chalice Acres.
They quickly arranged for Zoom meetings. Sunday services have been well “attended,”
attracting over 30, including out-of-town friends and members we don’t see often in
person. Now they are in our kitchens, our living rooms, appear right in our homes. The
Buddhist Sangha group, committee and board meetings, Women’s and Men’s circles,
and a new Wednesday night chat session all have gone forward on Zoom.
Our fellowship is not only surviving, but even expanding its offerings during this time
of daunting new realities. Unitarian Universalists are can-do types, and members of
UUFP are no exception. We are there for each other, knowing that we are stronger
together, spiritually if not literally. We are meeting the challenge of Covid19 head on by
adapting and overcoming.
You can help UUFP survive and thrive, and your pledge is an essential part of that.
We understand that not everyone is in a position right now to make a financial
commitment. For those who face financial uncertainty, your pledge will be appreciated if
and when you are able to respond.
Either way, please continue to join us in the fellowship’s activities as we explore our
spiritual life together, celebrate our community and apply the fundamental principles of
Unitarian Universalism.
On behalf of the UUFP Board
In service to the UUFP
